Toi Māori, Grounded in Place, Carried with Integrity
Reia partners with developers, institutions, Māori organisations and collectors seeking meaningful, tikanga-led engagement with Toi Māori.
Cultural Authority Across Spaces, Strategy and Taonga
Cultural Advisory
We provide tikanga-led guidance across planning, design and delivery. Our role is to ensure Māori visual language is understood, applied correctly, and carried with integrity from the outset.
Toi Māori Consultation
Our consultation is relational and grounded in whakapapa. We support teams to engage with clarity, avoid misapplication, and uphold cultural responsibility at every stage.
Urban and Spatial Integration
We work alongside design teams to embed Toi Māori into the fabric of environments. This includes both new developments and existing spaces requiring cultural realignment.
Taonga and Commissioned Work
We undertake commissioned mahi and offer selected taonga for acquisition. Each work is guided by narrative, intent and right relationship, with engagement beginning through kōrero.
Working With Those Who Carry Responsibility
For those shaping land, infrastructure and long-term environments who need Toi Māori embedded with clarity and integrity.
Developers and Urban Projects
Councils and Institutions
For organisations carrying public responsibility, seeking culturally grounded outcomes that reflect place, people and Te Tiriti commitments.
For built-environment professionals who want a trusted Toi Māori partner within the design process, not applied at the edges.
Designers and Architects
Māori Organisations
For iwi, hapū, trusts and whānau entities reclaiming and expressing Māori visual language through kaupapa-led practice.
Collectors
For those seeking to acquire taonga with understanding, where relationship, provenance and stewardship are held with care.
Ko wai mātou
Our two co-directors Pahi O’Carroll (Ngāruahine Rangi, Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Ruanui) and Jenny Te Huamanuka Crown (Rereahu, Raukawa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Apakura, Taranaki) bring over two decades of expertise in Toi, Education and Research.
We are a whānau-driven, Māori-led pakihi with nearly ten years’ experience in supporting iwi, marae and other organisations in engaging with Toi Māori. As Pahi has had over 27 years’ experience as a kai whakairo (Māori wood carver) we merge practical craft with theoretical depth to uphold and grow the mana of Toi Māori.
Toi Māori is a living, breathing expression of identity. We believe it belongs in any environment—provided it is engaged with respect, purpose, and absolute integrity.
